The key difference between FAULHABER DC micromotors and conventional brushed DC motors is in the rotor. The special winding used in the System FAULHABER technology does not have an iron core, but instead consists of a self-supporting skew-wound copper coil.

The feather weight rotor has an extremely low moment of inertia and rotates without cogging, resulting in outstanding dynamics across the range.

For low power motors, it’s best to select commutation systems using precious metal brushes because of their extremely low contact resistance. However, copper graphite brushes are recommended for higher power motors to ensure long life even under extreme load conditions.

The FAULHABER ranges of System Faulhaber DC motors, gearheads, encoders, brakes and brushless DC motors offer over a million possible combinations, one of the widest choices on the market.

Sizes start from the incredibly small 3mm diameter motor and planetary gearhead, up to 44mm and 200+ Watts (W). This ensures they are suitable for applications such as medical devices, aerospace, control and instrumentation.

Bühler DC motors can cover power requirements up to 200W, with applications ranging from building automation to transportation.

Among Bühler’s offerings is the innovative bMotion. This modular drive platform of DC motors, gear boxes, brakes and encoders is simple to combine, allowing for easy purchasing and installation of Bühler products.

Within their range is the DC Motor 63x95 201, which has a rated torque of 18 Newton-Centimetres (Ncm) and a rated speed of 3300 revolutions per minute (rpm).

Kaehlig Antriebstechnik GmbH (KAG) produces DC drives ranging from 2.5 to 250W power, which are available from EMS.

The company develops small DC motors for a wide range of applications. Some examples are medical technology, domestic services engineering, fluid mechanics, the automotive industry, office communications, automatic machines and agricultural machinery.

KAG motors are designed to give up to 3,000 hours life at nominal rating.
